New Wines in the Shop !!

Next time you are in The Shop why not try our new wines. Some may be on offer when you come.

Have you tried this one?

Wolf Blass Red Label Shiraz Cabernet

This wonderfully drinkable deep red wine boasts an appealing bouquet of red berry fruits, peppery spice and mint.
The Red Label range are wines of reliable and approachable character offering ‘a drink for all occasions'.
Wolf Blass Wines is one of Australia’s greatest success stories.
From a humble tin shed in the legendary Barossa Valley in 1966,
Wolf Blass has grown to become one of Australia’s most successful and awarded winemakers.

We also have an equally quaffable white wine.

Nobilo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

A distinctive bouquet of tropical and citrus fruit, gooseberry and passion fruit. Crisp and zesty with a refreshing finish.
Nobilo is steeped in history. Nikolai and Zuva Nobilo - Croat immigrants - first planted grapes at Huapai Valley in New Zealand in 1943.
They brought with them a culture and heritage of family winemaking, which stretches back over 300 years.
According to winemaker Darryl Woolley, Marlborough is one of the very best places in the world to make wine.
This is due to the dry climate which results in the world's most expressive Sauvignons.

Don’t forget all the other things you can also get in your local
Barrowden and Wakerley Community Shop

Why drive when you can buy all (well nearly all) you need in the shop!

SUNDAY PAPERS

Many customers ask us to reserve papers for them on a Sunday morning. May we remind you that unless specifically requested, we only keep reserved papers until 12 noon, and will then offer them for general sale.

  WET WEATHER !!!

Whilst we are encountering rather a lot of rain (!), please be aware that occasionally, after any particularly heavy downpours, the area at the bottom of our car park, and the entrance to the forecourt can flood. In order to keep our customers feet dry, when this happens we will make sure that the side door of the shop is open for a dry access route into the shop.

As part of a general administrative "tidy up", it has been decided that we will no longer offer a "Layaway" facility at the shop. Administering this facility has been both time consuming, and sometimes difficult to manage.

As an alternative, many of our shop customers find it convenient and helpful to have an ACCOUNT at the shop.
If, like me, you often forget to bring any cash out with you, or you have not had time to go to the bank, this is an ideal solution. Simply "top up" your account from time to time to keep it in credit, and then when you do your shopping, rather than paying by cash, you can draw on your shop account - Simple!!

How many days are we open?

So far, every day! Thanks to the kindness of the many volunteers who receive the rotas and then offer to fill up one of the gaps. Remember! The shop and other parts will only be open for the times for which we have volunteers. Many have kindly said that they are willing to help, and a few have signed up for a particular time slot. If you are willing to offer a few hours whether occasionally or on a regular basis, please phone Kay Bagshaw on 748 797, or Angeline Allt on 747 180. Between them they co-ordinate the rota. They will tell you all you need to know. Please help them to fill up the rota. It would be sad to have to close up for a couple of hours for lack of a phone call. Alternatively call the shop on 748 748.
